Report fraudulent activity to the nearest law enforcement agency

We prohibit individuals from placing County resources at risk through fraudulent misconduct, misappropriation of assets, and fraudulent reporting of information affecting the County.

Things to know

  • Any County employee who knows of fraudulent behavior involving the County, or has reason to suspect fraudulent behavior by a County employee, officer, elected official, member of the public, or any person doing business with the County must report it
  • Any citizen who knows of an occurrence of fraudulent behavior involving the County or has reason to suspect that fraudulent behavior has occurred is strongly encouraged to report such conduct
  • If a County employee or citizen detects fraudulent behavior or criminal activity they should feel free to report this activity to the nearest law enforcement agency. County employees, in addition, should report such activity to their supervisor and Compliance Services.

How to

  1. Gather information about the incident, such as:
    1. Date when the incident(s) occurred
    2. Address where the fraudulent misconduct took place
    3. Name, address and phone of person that you feel engaged in the fraudulent behavior
    4. Description of what occurred
    5. Witness information (if any)
  2. Submit the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Intake Questionnaire online

What's next

  1. You will receive a confirmation email with a copy of the of the answers you provided
  2. Investigative Services staff will contact you within 48 business hours to discuss the report
  3. Our staff will determine if the allegations are criminal in nature and refer the report to the appropriate agency if finds the allegations have merit
    1. The assigned Investigator will serve as the liaison between the County and law enforcement during the criminal investigation, and will contact you to coordinate information and document collection, and schedule an interview, if necessary
