Ideal candidate
The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Department is seeking a Recycling Coordinator to provide management and oversight of the development, implementation, and performance of County programs for waste reduction, material reuse, recycling, sustainability, and resource conservation and recovery.
The position is responsible for detailed regulatory reporting and contract management. This position will provide public education and outreach on solid waste programs and initiatives, including curbside recycling, commercial recycling, litter prevention, proper household hazardous waste disposal, and waste reduction principles.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a passion for environmental stewardship who desires to make a positive impact by engaging with the community to promote environmentally responsible behavior. Candidates should have a working knowledge of environmental studies and state legislation regarding solid waste management.
The ideal candidate will be outgoing and have strong communication skills and must be comfortable providing public presentations to diverse audiences including civic associations, businesses, school groups, etc. Experience navigating and working in or with large organizations and municipal/local government is a plus, but not a requirement. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not a requirement.
