A permit is required for open air and indoor, covered fireworks displays

The Fire Marshal’s Office grants fireworks display permits.

Fees

  • Open air display permit - $200 per day
  • Indoor, covered display permit - $300 per day
  • Fire Watch standard rate - $50 per hour/4 hour minimum

Things to consider

  • Advance notice of 15 days is required – NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Insurance:
    • Include a copy of the insurance certificate
    • Certificate of insurance must be for at least $3,000,000
    • Must list Hillsborough as addition insured and as the Certificate Holder - List as Hillsborough County, A political subdivision of the State of Florida
  • Include a copy of license from the Department of Treasury-Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms User-Limited Permit (18 U.S.C. Chapter 40, Explosives)
  • Fire Watch (download application packet for complete list of Fire Watch requirements):
    • Provided by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR)
    • If HCFR is unavailable, you may hire a private security company approved by the Fire Marshal's Office and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)Once private security is approved, include a copy of the contract with the application package
  • Zero fall out is allowed

  2. Submit by mail or in person to:

What's next

  1. We will review the application and contact you if we need further information
  2. It takes about 15 - 20 days for approval
  3. We will mail the permit to the person listed on the application
    • If you provide an email address, we will email you the permit
